FALL FEST SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 20
10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
NEW EVENTS AT FALL FEST
Webster County Conversation & Fort Dodge Young Professionals will kick off the day with a Blazing
New TrailsAdventure
Race. This race is an informal triathlon that tests participants’ endurance as they bike,
kayak, and run. All participants will receive a t-shirt
and refreshments following the race. The course will start
at Fall Fest Downtown by the river and you will bike to Kennedy Park, trial run at Kennedy Park, kayak on
Badger Lake, trail run and bike back to Fall Fest. (kayaks will be provided) Registration forms are available at
Chamber of Commerce 1406 Central Ave or Webster County Conservation Office 1415 Nelson Avenue.
See how long 8 seconds really is by taking a ride on the Mechanical Bull that will be in the center of the
square. The cost will be $5.00 per ride.
CAT IN THE HAT will be making an appearance at the Fort Dodge Public Library as will Jane Marcellus
author of WHAT KIND OF PEAS ARE THESE? Jane will be doing a book reading around 11:00 a.m.
FALL FEST RAFFLE TICKETS
Fall Fest Raffle tickets are now available! Stop in the Chamber Office to purchase raffle tickets for
$2.00 each or if you would like to help sell tickets call Sheri at 955-5500.
A few prizes this year are: (4) $75.00
Gasoline Certificates from Casey’s, The Station, Sun Market & Deli, Tom Thumb Deli DQ, (2) 60 second
shopping sprees from HyVee
Food Store, 1 year membership to Club Fitness, (2) $50 Gift Certificates from
Fareway. There are over 50 other prizes that will be given away that day as well.
The drawing will be held around 3:00p.m. the day of Fall Fest at the gazebo. Need not be present to
win. Prizes will need to be claimed at the Chamber Office starting Monday, September 22nd from 8:00 a.m. to
5:00 p.m.
FALL FEST VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED
We would like to have a group of people or a business step forward to help sell raffle tickets the day of
Fall Fest. You would get to stroll the grounds, see all the activity and sell tickets all at the same time. WHAT
FUN!!!
We also are looking for individuals to work in our Chamber Booth, help oversee the ticket booth in Kid
Central and also just help Cinda stay calm, ok that is impossible.
If you would like to volunteer please call Cinda at 955-5500.
OCTOBER SPEAKER!!
Gavin Jerome, the “Morale Mechanic”, will be the Chamber of Commerce’s featured speaker on
October 8th, 1:30-3:30 pm, Iowa Central’s Career Education Building, Rooms 108-110.
The topic will be“Building Teamwork and Addressing Negativity”. Gavin has been a motivational speaker for over 20
years. His goal is to help improve the workplace, one laugh at a time, not just by getting laughs, but by
teaching people how to create and share humor with others. He has worked with Target, Sears, IBM, Principal
Financial Group, Wells Fargo, Pepsi, the Mayo Clinic and dozens of other companies.
Gavin has also worked as a comedian, and worked with Jerry Seinfield, Paul Reiser, Dana Carvey,
Dennis Miller, Steve Harvey and Pat Paulson. Please join us for a very helpful, informative, fun and uplifting
afternoon that will help all of us become better team players and learn how to better approach situations with a
positive outlook. The cost is $35 per person. If 5 or more attend from the same business the cost is $30.00
per person, please pay in advance. Call the Chamber at 955-5500

GARDENS. THE CHARGE IS $8.00 TO COVER THE COST OF YOUR MEAL. THIS IS AN INFORMAL
GATHERING TO GET TO KNOW OTHER CHAMBER MEMBERS. THIS MONTH CHERYL O’HERN WITH
FRONTIER COMMUNICATIONS AND CARI FELDMAND WITH BOY SCOUTS WILL BE OUR SPEAKERS
AND THE REST OF THE TIME WILL BE SPENT NETWORKING AT YOUR TABLE. PLEASE LET CINDA
